The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health returns to the Historic Court District, in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) on Saturday, May 2, 2026. It runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. - Noon (May - September) and 8 a.m. - Noon (October). The Market supports farmers, growers and artisan food entrepreneurs from all around the Midwest. The Market offers a variety of attractions and activities including shopping for fresh produce, eggs, and meats, eating breakfast, meeting with family and friends, as well as live entertainment.

Volunteer Information:

  • Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt to wear during their shift(s) at The Market!
  • Volunteers will also receive $5 Downtown Farmers' Market bucks following the conclusion of their shift (setup volunteer) or the beginning of their shift (teardown volunteer) which can be used at any Downtown Farmers' Market vendor throughout the season.  
  • Volunteers must be at least 14-years-old when they report for their shift.
  • Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and keep in mind that we will be outside through the entirety of your shift.
  • You are responsible for personal items.

In addition to volunteering at The Market, you can also help out the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry by helping with their Meals From the Market Program. Volunteers will canvass The Market, asking vendors if they would like to donate any unsold produce. Volunteers will collect and load the donated produce into a truck, which is then distributed throughout the DMARC Food Pantry Network. Who is this registration for?

I understand that the Greater Des Moines Partnership, including its officers, directors, sponsors and agents, assumes no responsibility or liability for those persons volunteering for the Downtown Farmers' Market.

All volunteers must be at least 14-years-old. All volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (not all volunteer positions require), stand for at least 2 hours at a time and be comfortable being outside the entirety of the volunteer shift. All volunteers must be kind and respectful to all Market patrons, staff and vendors.
